VHPK BY ANALOGUE AUTOMOTIVE
RADICALLY LIGHTWEIGHT / SINGULARLY FOCUSED
In September 2025 Analogue Automotive announced the VHPK – a radically lightweight, limited-production reimagination of the Series 1 Lotus Elise, built around a central driving position.
The first customer build is now complete and represents the pinnacle of what’s possible with the S1 Elise platform, whilst retaining the original car’s unique character and authenticity. Finished in bespoke ‘PK Purple’, this one-of-one example is specified with a matching Alcantara interior and contrasting gold exhaust tips.
The VHPK sets a new benchmark in stripping weight from the Elise, achieving a wet weight of below 600kg. Twinned with a rebuilt and highly tuned 250bhp K-Series engine, the VHPK boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne, elevating the Elise’s performance from sportscar to supercar territory.
In keeping with its exotic performance, the VHPK’s bodywork is finished in exquisite, ultralight carbon fibre bodywork. Rather than opting for a cheaper, splash-mould process, Analogue Automotive’s carbon fibre panels are manufactured using moulds made from CNC milled patterns – the same techniques used in aerospace and F1. This not only ensures a perfect finish but increases strength and further reduces weight.
Reducing unsprung mass was another key objective for the VHPK. Removing weight from the wheels improves suspension performance, acceleration and braking – a philosophy championed by Lotus founder, Colin Chapman. This has been achieved through the use of lightweight forged wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and bespoke ultralight hubs. In addition, owners can opt for a full carbon wheel package, saving a further 12kg.
The VHPK has been lightened further using a single, carbon fibre bucket seat and carbon interior trim, a stainless-steel exhaust system, as well as a lightweight fuel tank and wiring loom. Optional extras include fully exposed carbon body work, electric air conditioning and HVAC system, as well as a carbon hardtop, which can be trimmed or provided as a light-weight single skin unit.
Inspiration for the central seating position came from the iconic single-seat Elises which competed in the Autobytel Lotus Championship at the turn of the millennium – a one-make series conceived by Lotus Motorsport which supported the British Touring Car Championship.
To ensure the VHPK handles like those legendary motorsport cars, the car features a bespoke wide-track suspension system, carried over from the Analogue SuperSport – Autocar magazine’s second-best drivers’ car in 2024. The system incorporates lightweight aluminium uprights and steering arms, as well as multi way passive dampers. An optional, fully active suspension system is also available to customers.
The VHPK name is derived from the high-performance, 190bhp ‘VHPD’ derivative of the original car’s K-Series engine, used in the Elise Sport 190, Series 1 Exige and 340R. Using modern technology and experience gained over the last 25 years, the AA-spec K-Series in the VHPK has been pushed even further.
Displacement has been upped from 1.8 to 1.9 litres, and power is increased by over 30%, whilst also reducing weight and vastly improving the engine’s strength by using bespoke billet and forged internals. The engine is mated to a Quaife PG1 5 speed close ratio gearbox with a limited slip differential – an upgraded version of the car’s original transmission.
Crucially, this ensures that the car’s powertrain retains its original character, authenticity and feel. The VHPK delivers exhilarating performance without a complete engine swap or the need for forced induction, keeping it closely aligned to the spirit of the original car.
Limited to just 35 individually numbered examples worldwide, the VHPK is now available to order and is priced at £350,000 plus taxes, which includes the supply of a Series 1 Elise donor vehicle.
